Agra is a famous historical city in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is best known for the world-famous Taj Mahal, a beautiful white marble monument built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited tourist attractions in India.
Another important place is the Agra Fort, a massive red sandstone fort built by Akbar. Visitors can explore its palaces, halls, and gardens.
Tourists also visit Mehtab Bagh for a beautiful view of the Taj Mahal across the Yamuna River and the historic city of Fatehpur Sikri, the former capital of the Mughal Empire.
Agra is also popular for its handicrafts, marble inlay work, leather goods, and the famous sweet Petha. The best time to visit Agra is from October to March when the weather is pleasant.
